At the end of 2001, several friends gathered at the Red Lion at Bradley. All had one thing in common, their love for horses and urged on by the late Heather Kesson we were putting together ideas to form a riding club. So huddled around a candle (due to a power cut!) 'Equine Enthusiasts' was born.
Some months after the clubs formation, the benefits of becoming an approved Riding Club affiliated to the BHS appeared to be the way forward. Our name Equine Enthusiasts was not acceptable to the BHS so Bradley Dale emerged. Bradley as we met there, Dale to incorporate part of Heathers Riding School name where we held our first ever mounted event.
Over the last seven years the club has consolidated and we have a healthy bank account and a busy calendar of events. The winter talks have moved to The Mill at Worston, where the function room can accommodate our increasing numbers. Evening talks have included a Vet, Farrier, nutrition, pilates, a quiz and fashion shows.
The busy summer programmes have included instructional rallied, dressage and combined training competitions, a pioneering orienteering event and visits to a stud and racing yard.
We have formed teams to compete at area competitions with great results, and great fun.. Which is what it's all about! On this note we need more members prepared to 'have a go' so if your interested please tell us as we are hoping to organise more training.
I hope this has given you an insight into our clubs foundation.
Best wishes,
